Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: How Ella Wagner Carried Austria’s Colors Down the New York Runway

Every fashion week has its breakout faces. This season, one of them arrived from a village most New Yorkers couldn’t find on a map.

Ella Wagner of Altendorf, Austria, stepped into the New York Fashion Week spotlight wearing the “MRS. AUSTRIA CURVE” sash — and carried herself like she’d been doing it for years. Poised, radiant, and utterly at home in front of the cameras.

By her side: Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who has quietly become the go-to host for Austrian models landing in New York during fashion week. His welcome has become something of a tradition — and this year’s edition may have been the brightest yet.

The Austrian press took notice. The NÖN newspaper ran the story under the banner “Von Altendorf auf den internationalen Laufsteg,” celebrating one of their own on the world stage.

There’s a bigger story here, too. Curve models have spent the last few seasons reshaping what the runway looks like, and Ella’s New York moment is Austria’s contribution to that shift — confident, glamorous, and impossible to ignore.

Altendorf’s loss is Manhattan’s gain. For one glittering week, anyway.
