Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Chicago Fashion Week Turns the Whole City Into a Runway

Chicago Fashion Week is taking over the city. From October 8–18, 2026, the week spans venues across Chicago’s neighborhoods — museums, design spaces, shops, and galleries — with 50 runway shows, pop-ups, industry seminars, shopping events, and launch parties. Every one of them is open to the public.

The calendar reads like a city-wide festival rather than a single runway venue: Marche Prive: Fashion Week Edition at Zhou B Art Center on October 10, a T-shirt Upcycling Workshop at Ryerson Hall on October 14, the Chicago Fair Trade Clothing Swap on October 16, the Chicago Streetwear Expo at The Expo Warehouse on October 17, and Flamboyant by Force at Silveroom, also on October 17.

The range is the point. A mix of free and ticketed events covers fashion history, vintage, and the avant-garde alongside runway shows and shopping — a program that treats fashion as both business and culture. Streetwear sits next to upcycling; fair trade next to high-concept runway. That’s a week’s programming with room for shoppers and students alike.

A Week That Mixes Commerce and Culture

Eleven days, dozens of neighborhoods, and no velvet rope. Chicago’s fashion week is making the case that a fashion capital doesn’t need a single address — it needs a city that’s in on it.
